What can Copilot in Dynamics 365 Sales do for sellers?
Copilot in Dynamics 365 Sales is built into the app itself and works with the data you already have. It is most useful for tasks that take up time without creating value—getting up to speed on a case and drafting an email.
Copilot can summarize an opportunity or a lead, so you don't have to read through six months of timeline history before a call. If you qualify a lead, it can also add a summary to the new opportunity's timeline, ensuring that the context carries over.
You can ask questions about your own records instead of creating a view or filter. This makes the system more accessible to those who rarely use it and would otherwise have asked a colleague.
Copilot can suggest email replies based on the record and retrieve relevant documents from SharePoint. The latter requires the documents to actually be stored and organized in SharePoint—if the proposal templates are on a file server, it will not find them.
Copilot must be enabled and configured by an administrator, and the fields it looks at can be controlled. More importantly, it summarizes what is in the system. If the timeline is empty because no one logs anything, Copilot has nothing to summarize. In other words, it does not solve low adoption—it rewards high adoption.
Also note that Copilot features may involve data processing across geographic regions. This should be clarified with the person responsible for privacy in your organization before enabling it for everyone.
