What is a business process flow in Dynamics 365?
The business process flow is the line at the top of a form with stages such as Qualify, Develop, Propose, and Close.
It shows the current status of the case, what remains to be done, and can require specific fields to be completed before moving on to the next stage. This provides a shared way of working without anyone having to remember the sequence.
Four to six stages. If you go beyond that, the workflow becomes something people click through just to get it over with, and the stage stops being meaningful in reports.
Two or three. If you require ten, people will fill them with nonsense just to move on, leaving you with worse data than if you had no workflow at all.
If you have very different sales processes, you can have one flow per process and switch between them along the way. But start with one—most people don’t need more.
