Should prices be maintained in the CRM or ERP?
This is one of those decisions that may seem technical but is actually a business decision, and it should be made before the integration is built.
If you have an ERP system, it should own the price. Cost, margin, and invoicing are already managed there, and that is where price changes have consequences that need to be reflected accurately. The CRM reads the price and uses it in quotes.
The price is adjusted in one place but not the other. The salesperson provides a quote at the old price, the customer receives an invoice at the new price, and someone has to sort it out. It does not happen often enough to be detected systematically, but often enough to undermine trust.
If you do not have an ERP system, or if you sell services where the price is set for each agreement, the CRM system can be the source of truth for pricing. The point is not which system wins, but that only one does.
