Manual research was difficult to scale
The sales team at Odfjell Technology spent a great deal of time searching news articles and updates on various websites for potential projects and customers. The work was manual, time-consuming, and difficult to scale.
At the same time, the company wanted to get more value from the sales module in Microsoft Dynamics 365, which had already been adopted by the organization.
An AI agent from news to lead
Over the course of six weeks, the team developed the AI agent Oddie. It monitors nearly 900 news sources and identifies articles that may point to projects where Odfjell Technology can offer its services.
When an article meets the criteria, Oddie analyzes the content and automatically creates a lead in Dynamics 365. A salesperson can then qualify and follow up on the opportunity.
Several thousand opportunities during the trial period
During the first four to five weeks of testing, Oddie identified several thousand potential leads. The next phase will focus on improving the qualification process so that the sales team can prioritize the most relevant opportunities.
The solution combines Azure Storage, Azure Functions, and Azure OpenAI with data collection and integration with Dynamics 365 and Dataverse. The project demonstrates how a clearly defined, time-consuming task can lay the foundation for more data-driven business development.
