What happens to our data if we stop using Dynamics 365?
The question should be asked before you buy, not when you are considering stopping.
Microsoft is the data processor, not the owner. You can retrieve all your data as long as the subscription is active.
After cancellation, there is a period of reduced access before the environment is deleted. It is shorter than most people think. Export the data while the subscription is still active.
A raw table export is technically complete but practically useless. Consider what you actually need going forward: a customer list, history, documents — and export it in a format people can read.
Attachments are often stored in SharePoint rather than Dataverse. They must be retrieved separately, and it’s easy to forget until it’s too late.
