The demo showed generative answers with source references, tuning how creative the answers should be, and automatic conversation-flow generation based on the added content.
Security was covered through authentication, three levels of content moderation, and the option to publish the bot to channels such as Teams or a company website.
Copilot Studio was compared to the older Power Virtual Agents product, and to connecting custom data sources, ERP systems and plugins beyond the roughly 1,100 ready-made connectors.
The webinar also touched on usage analytics, multi-language support, and skills such as automatically booking a meeting in the calendar, with a follow-up technical deep-dive webinar announced.

In this December 2023 webinar, Oscar Høvik, together with Frode Stenstrøm, demonstrated how to build a chatbot from scratch in Microsoft Copilot Studio. As an example they used shipbuilder Ulstein: the bot was started by pointing it at the company's website, so it could answer questions about the business based on that content, with references to which page each answer came from.

Høvik went on to show how uploading documents, such as a PDF about a specific product, gives the bot more detailed knowledge, and how to tune how creative or fact-bound its answers should be. He noted that Copilot Studio automatically generates a conversation flow from the content that is added, unlike the older Power Virtual Agents product, where the flow had to be built manually.

Security and access control were covered through authentication settings, three levels of response moderation, and publishing to channels such as Microsoft Teams or a website. They also showed how the bot can connect to external systems, such as a helpdesk tool, so a human agent can take over a conversation.

The session closed with mentions of multi-language support, with Norwegian expected to become the primary language during the first half of 2024, analytics on how users interact with the bot, and skills such as automatically booking a meeting in the calendar. A follow-up webinar with a deeper technical look at plugins and custom integrations was announced.
