Geir Andreassen and Jørgen Amrud Hagen explained trigger-based customer communication to Frode Stenstrøm on ProsessPodden.
In this episode of ProsessPodden, Frode Stenstrøm spoke with colleagues Geir Andreassen and Jørgen Amrud Hagen from ProsessPilotene about real-time marketing, that is, customer communication triggered by a specific event rather than sent as a fixed mass mailing. Geir Andreassen argued that "trigger-based" is a more accurate label than "real-time", since what matters is that an action, such as a purchase or an abandoned cart, starts a two-way dialogue with the recipient.
The conversation covered how to get started: good data quality is a prerequisite, and both recommended building many small, well-scoped customer journeys instead of one large, complicated one, so adjustments stay easy. AB testing also expands to cover channel choice, not just message content, since different recipients respond better to email, SMS or other channels.
Geir Andreassen highlighted Kristiania's admissions process, where a status change on an application automatically triggers relevant follow-up to the applicant, and ProsessPilotene's own shift from occasional newsletters to much more active customer journeys around webinars and website visits. They closed by looking at where Dynamics Customer Insights is heading: anonymous profiles, tighter integration with other data platforms, and Copilot eventually helping plan the customer journeys themselves.
