Ane Tronsaune showed Frode Stenstrøm how to automate a Dynamics 365 discount approval with Power Automate, Teams and AI Builder.
In this 2025 webinar, Ane Tronsaune of ProsessPilotene showed Frode Stenstrøm how to build a concrete approval process in Power Automate. The starting point was a quote in Dynamics 365 where a salesperson wanted to grant a discount above 50 percent, triggering an automatic approval request to the sales manager.
Tronsaune built the flow step by step: a trigger that fires when the discount is updated and exceeds the threshold, retrieval of the salesperson's and customer's names from Dataverse, an approval sent by email, and finally a version using adaptive cards posted directly to a Teams channel so colleagues can cover the approval while someone is away.
To give the approver a stronger basis for the decision, the flow pulled historical revenue data from an Excel file in SharePoint and used AI Builder's GPT integration to generate a short Norwegian summary of the customer and the quote, clearly labelled as AI-generated.
Along the way, Tronsaune offered practical Power Automate tips: put filter conditions in the trigger itself to limit unnecessary runs, test the flow regularly with the same test data, and use the solution's version control before publishing. She also pointed to further improvements, such as building the approval status directly into Dynamics and automatically generating a quote document to the customer once approved.
CRM-Konsulent
