Frode Stenstrøm, Hege Grønlund Aas and Thomas Tellefsen discussed collaboration portals for membership organisations on ProsessPodden.
In this episode of ProsessPodden, Frode Stenstrøm spoke with project managers Hege Grønlund Aas and Thomas Tellefsen from ProsessPilotene about collaboration portals for membership organisations. Both have more than 20 years of CRM experience, and the conversation covered how a collaboration portal differs from a simple self-service page by enabling two-way communication between the organisation and its members, elected representatives, local chapters and other partners.
Thomas Tellefsen and Hege Grønlund Aas gave concrete examples: a professional association that digitalised approval of a five-year specialist education programme so candidates could track their own progress, local chapters allowed to send newsletters and event invitations directly to their own members, and automated travel-expense handling that freed up half a full-time role at one customer. Dynamics 365 was described as the master source for all core data, with Teams, and eventually Copilot, integrated into the collaboration.
Security and privacy took up a significant part of the conversation: encryption, access control, two-factor authentication and clear data-retention policies were named as minimum requirements. Hege Grønlund Aas described an automated GDPR data-access report that replaced a week of manual work per request.
Toward the end, they discussed how to measure the value created, through time spent before and after and through customer satisfaction, and gave advice to organisations considering getting started: set clear, prioritised goals, involve end users in development and testing, and build step by step rather than planning the entire solution up front.
