ProsessPilotene shared its own use of Fabric, including role-based reports for staff and project managers, and resource allocation based on billing and time-tracking data.
Holth highlighted a low entry threshold and fixed, CPU-based pricing as advantages, while warning that inexperienced users can build reports on poor data quality or architecture.
The recommendation was to start small but plan the data foundation several years ahead, since a robust platform pays off as more needs emerge over time.

In this 2024 webinar, Daniel Holth, a developer at ProsessPilotene, explained what Microsoft Fabric is and who it serves, together with Frode Stenstrøm. They covered four main roles: leaders and decision-makers who need visualisation, analysts who do calculations and pattern recognition, developers who fetch and process data, and domain experts who ensure quality in the delivery.

Holth walked through Fabric's building blocks in order: OneLake as the shared data foundation for the whole organisation, a data warehouse for structured core data, Data Factory and Power Query for import and transformation, Data Engineering and Data Science for processing, pattern recognition and predictive models, Real-Time Analytics and Data Activator for real-time alerts, and Power BI for visualisation, with Copilot support at several points along the chain.

ProsessPilotene used its own organisation as an example, with role-based reports showing bonuses, holiday and project allocation for staff, project status pulled from Azure DevOps and Xledger, and leadership reports that support data-driven staffing and resourcing decisions. The reports also help even out workload across staff and track training plans and completed courses against certification requirements.

Holth closed by noting advantages such as a low entry threshold, closer collaboration across roles, and fixed, CPU-based pricing that can be scheduled to quiet hours, while warning that inexperienced users can build reports on poor data quality or flawed architecture. His advice for organisations considering Fabric was to start small but plan the data foundation with several years' worth of future needs in mind.
