What data does the planning assistant need to suggest the right technician?

The scheduling assistant suggests technicians based on the data available to it. If the data is sparse, the suggestions become random, and the planner stops using it.

Skills

Resource attributes matched against the requirements of the work order. This is what is most often missing, and without it, technicians who cannot perform the job are suggested.

Working hours

Calendar per resource, including holidays and absences. If the calendar is empty, full availability is assumed — and work will then be scheduled during holidays.

Geography

Starting location and work area. Without this information, travel time is not taken into account, and the proposals end up being much more expensive than they appear.

Estimated duration

Without a duration, the assistant cannot determine whether the job will fit into the schedule. Set a realistic default for each work order type rather than leaving the field blank.
