What is the difference between Dynamics 365 and Microsoft 365?
The similarity in the names leads many people to believe they are two variants of the same thing. They are not.
Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint. The tools people use every day, no matter what kind of job they have. Most organizations already have these.
Business systems: CRM, finance, and logistics. They support specific processes and are used by people in the relevant roles. A salesperson uses Sales, while a caseworker uses Customer Service.
The same sign-in through Microsoft Entra ID, with tight integration. Emails from Outlook are linked to the customer in the CRM, documents are stored in SharePoint, and collaboration takes place in Teams. This interconnectedness is the main argument for Dynamics 365 among organizations that already use Microsoft 365.
A Microsoft 365 license does not provide access to Dynamics 365. A separate license is required for each user who needs access, which is a common source of budget surprises.
